Our Story

Why the Society exists

The Gandhi Memorial Society (GMS) was established on December 17, 2017, to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth, nonviolence, and love to the world. It began not as an institution, but as a conviction — that these ideas were as urgent in Ohio as they had been in India nearly a century earlier.

In doing so, the Society also seeks to illuminate the lives and teachings of leaders such as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, and others who followed Gandhi’s path — showing that his message is not confined to one country or one era, but lives on wherever people choose truth over falsehood, and love over hatred.

Why the Society exists

"Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

Chairman's Message

Welcome to the Gandhi Memorial Society of Central Ohio.

Our Society was founded to share and preserve the timeless message of Mahatma Gandhi: Peace, Truth, Nonviolence, and Love. These values are as relevant today as they were during Gandhi’s lifetime, inspiring individuals and communities to build a more peaceful, just, and compassionate world.

Through educational programs, cultural events, community outreach, and youth engagement, we strive to keep Gandhi’s teachings alive while also honoring leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and others who advanced these ideals through their own lives and services.

As you explore our website, we invite you to join us in promoting understanding, respect, and positive change. Together, we can continue to make these universal principles a guiding force for future generations.

Thank you,
Warm Regards,
